K Art is pleased to announce our latest exhibition, Tangible/Intangible, which opens on August 12th and runs through October 7th, 2022. The exhibition focuses on the textile works of Indigenous artists, a general category that differs greatly based on geographical location, especially within the Americas. Many institutions have acquired textiles and beadwork, but they typically date towards an earlier time. But has weaving, for example, stopped since then? With digital designs and NFTs on the rise, this exhibition calls upon active artists from origins across North America who further the genre and utilize it as a vehicle for communication. Within these textiles, creators showcase their stories based on environmental, political, and/or anecdotal reasons, whether conceptual, decorative, practical, or ceremonial.

This exhibit recognizes artists indigenous to all parts of North America and their relationship with textiles. Featured artists include Patrick Dean Hubbell, Porfirio Gutiérrez, Jordan Ann Craig, Marcy Friesen, and Venancio Aragon.

Join us on August 12th, beginning at 7 pm, for the public opening of Tangible/Intangible.

Tangible/Intangible is on view at K Art from August 12, 2022 through October 7, 2022. The exhibition focuses on the textile works of Indigenous artists. Each work is tangible in form, but communicates profound intangible meanings beyond utility and substance. The works embody generations of cultural skills and concepts. Although they draw from histories, they also reinvent through contemporary approaches and forms. They pull from the past to help further the future.
